WORK

The ideas before were that art had a mission of evolution and human development, or it offered a glimpse into the inner being of the artist. Soo-Kyung saw these quite ridiculous, proposing, “All I have ever made was made for the present and in the hope that it will always remain in the present. When I have found something to express, I have done it without thinking of the past or the future.”

MORE INFO

Painter / Artist

After 15 years of working in the business world, I decided that it was time to move on to the newer challenges. In Europe during an extended vacation, at first gradually then more emphatically I found I discovered joy in painting outdoors along the Spree River and in the parks of Paris. That experience reminded me of how much I enjoyed painting and drawing when I was very young before reality led me to follow the trace of business, like the rest of the world. A few year ago, taking a leave from my job, I packed my painting gear and left for Paris for the romantic artistic adventures like expat painters of the early 20th century. Eventually, I quit my job became a painter and counsellor. The world is the most interesting place because of all the people of different backgrounds, cultures, shapes, and personalities. My work evolved from a desire to describe the casual beauty to a communication eliciting the story behind the natural expressions of shapes and colours. These stories are nonverbal but effectively communicated by being there.
